Lawn Aeration

Roots need air as well as water and nutrients for growth. Many lawns that recieve heavy use, have a restriction of air and nutrients to the soil. That is why someone would want to aerate their lawn. Aeration, also known as hole punching, coring and aerification, is based on the following principle: Hollow metal tubes, 1/4 to 3/4 inch in diameter, are pushed into the soil by foot or machine, to an average depth of 2 to 3 inches.
